Traditionally a fishing village Sabinillas has grown into a town but retained its character. A more Spanish feel to the place than Duquesa and certainly a place to practice the language!! although most do speak English.
Here you will find all the supermarkets you need, Supersol caters more for the English but we tend to use Mercadona, more Spanish and slightly cheaper, the fresh fish counter is very good. Don't forget to get your local wine, you can pick up a good Rioja for around 8 euros. Wine prices start at 1-2 euros!!
Behind Mercadona is the post office, expect long queues! even if the queue is out of the door it seems that one person on the counter is sufficient!! Manana, manana......
One of the oldest buildings in the town is the Church of Santa Ana, the church dates back to the 1800's and is still the meeting place for many locals going to weekly mass.
There is something about Sabinillas we particularly like, when you are sitting amongst the buzz in the tapas bars (the Spanish are very loud!) eating the montaditos (little sandwiches) and sipping the wine even we feel like we are on holiday and we live here!
Sabinillas beach is definately one of the highlights, it is a long expanse of well maintained sands and the play areas along it are great for families. A few beachfront restaurants have loungers on the beach and will serve you as you soak up the rays. For the children there is an excellent park - this is about 10 mins walk from our Marina Duquesa complex.
Final thoughts on Sabinillas..... definately worth visiting as it has something for everyone.
